Your files never leave your device.
How to split a PDF
- Add your PDF. Drag it onto the box or click to browse. The tool shows the file name and total page count before anything happens.
- Pick a mode. Extract page range produces one new PDF with the pages you specify; Every page as its own PDF produces one file per page.
- Write the range (extract mode):
3,2-5, or combinations like1-3, 7, 10-12. Pages come out in the order you list them — handy for reordering on the fly. - Click Split PDF and download the result (or results — in every-page mode you get a list with individual downloads plus Download all).
Lossless by design
Splitting doesn't touch your content. The tool copies the selected page objects — text, fonts, images, vectors — straight into new documents using the same open-source library professional desktop tools use. Selectable text stays selectable, image resolution stays untouched, and the original file on your disk is never modified. As with merging, document-level extras like bookmarks and interactive form fields don't travel with individual pages.
When do you need it?
- One page from a big document — portals often want "the signature page" or "page 1 of your ID scan", not the whole 40-page file.
- Scanned batches — a scanner app saved ten receipts as one PDF; split every page and send each receipt where it belongs.
- Chapters and handouts — give students or colleagues only the pages relevant to them.
- Size limits — a submission capped at 5 MB is often happier with the two relevant pages than the full report.
- Reordering — listing
5, 1-4extracts page 5 first, a quick way to move a page to the front.
Privacy you can verify
Open the browser's developer tools (F12) and watch the Network tab while you split: the only requests are this page's own files. Your document is read from disk, processed in memory, and written to your Downloads folder. That's the whole journey — which is exactly what you want for contracts, statements and ID scans.
Frequently asked questions
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. Splitting happens entirely in your browser. Your document never leaves your device, and closing the tab discards everything.
How do I write a page range?
Use plain numbers and dashes separated by commas: 3 extracts page 3, 2-5 extracts pages 2 through 5, and 1-3, 7, 10-12 combines all three. Pages appear in the order you list them.
Can I split every page into a separate PDF?
Yes. Choose the Every page as its own PDF mode and you get a downloadable file per page, plus a Download all button.
Does splitting reduce quality?
No. Pages are copied as-is — text stays selectable, images keep their resolution. Nothing is re-rendered.
Why does a password-protected PDF fail?
Encrypted PDFs cannot be opened in the browser. Remove the password in your PDF reader first, then split.
